p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders explain how they provide a welcoming and nurturing environment, where children arrive happily and confidently, often running into the setting and greeting staff by name. Parents and carers report that their children become excited when they see the picture card for attending the day's activities. Leaders know children extremely well. They discuss how they use detailed child profiles that are shared with the whole team. Leaders describe how this helps staff to understand children's interests, preferences and support needs. They recognise that this ensures all children, including those who may face barriers to learning or wellbeing, feel safe, secure and able to thrive.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders describe how they place an emphasis on children's welfare. They explain how staff carefully monitor children's wellbeing, including checking water bottles to ensure children are drinking and supporting their personal care needs sensitively. There are clear systems in place to monitor children's attendance and absence. Leaders discuss how this helps them to identify and address any potential safeguarding concerns. They explain how there is an open and transparent safeguarding culture across the setting.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders prioritise high-quality professional development. They discuss how staff undertake extensive training, which equips them with the expertise and confidence to manage a wide range of situations. Staff report that they feel well supported in their roles. As a result, staff demonstrate they are passionate about their work. Leaders recognise that this helps children to benefit from highly personalised care.

p.2

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders understand the setting's strengths and take action to improve areas identified for improvement, such as wanting to develop their information board detailing the staff on duty, so that they can be even more familiar with staff working with the children and developing more of a community lunchtime, where children all sit together.

p.2

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Inclusive practice is embedded throughout the setting. Leaders explain how children explore diversity through cultural days and engaging experiences, such as themed activities like pirate treasure hunts. They discuss how staff create a calm and supportive environment, where children enjoy themselves. Although there were no early years children present at the time of the inspection, leaders are able to demonstrate what typically happens at the provision for all children.

p.3

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.3

About this inspection

There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
