Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2864649 1 Registered Provider: Sirius Childcare Ltd
p.1
Inspected under the common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is owned and managed by a private provider. It provides care for up to 3 children who may have social and emotional difficulties. Two children were living at the home at the time of this visit.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home was registered with Ofsted in January 2026. The manager was registered at the same time. The home has not yet been inspected.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out this visit to address specific concerns or allegations. These related to concerns about safer recruitment practices and were received from multiple sources. The visit focused on these concerns.
p.1
This monitoring visit
One of the children living in the home has made several complaints to the provider. The provider has not shown sufficient professional curiosity around these complaints. Full investigations have not taken place and some of the records of conversations about the complaints are poor. This is not aligned to the provider’s complaints policy and does not ensure that children are effectively safeguarded.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has shared relevant information with the child’s social worker and with the child’s placing authority. The provider has worked with the local authority to consider how to respond to the child’s complaints. However, documents and plans are not written in child-friendly language.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Safer recruitment checks for one member of staff were reviewed. There were shortfalls around employment and regulated activity not being listed on the member of staff’s application form. This meant no reference was sought from the provider of the regulated activity. Risk assessments relating to offences from over 10 years ago Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2864649 2 were poor. Important information is missing, therefore it is not considered as part of the risk assessment.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Systems of oversight are not effective at identifying poor practice. One incident record noted that a member of staff threatened to use physical intervention on a child because the child refused to put the insides of a beanbag back. Other staff were present and did not raise any concerns about this. Leaders and managers were not aware of this until this visit. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2864649 3
