Information about this inspection
the care of children the safety of children the effectiveness of leaders and managers. Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. This assurance inspection was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000 to assess the effectiveness of the service, how it meets the core functions of the service as set out in legislation, and to consider how well it complies with The Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the 'Guide to the Children's Homes Regulations, including the quality standards'. Assurance inspection report for children's home: 2835923 2
p.1
Findings from the inspection
Inspectors did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Since the last inspection, there is a more robust approach to placement suitability. There is a more thorough assessment process in place to consider children moving into the home. The assessment includes consideration of all children's compatibility. This is informed by analysis of children's needs, strengths and potential risks. Children moving into the home benefit from transition arrangements that help them to settle in the home.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children's risk assessments are comprehensive and detailed. Risk assessments also consider community factors that may impact behaviours and increase risks outside the home. Behaviour support plans clearly identify children's triggers and strategies to manage and respond to behaviour that increases risk and may be harmful to others. This is an improvement since the last inspection. Risk assessments are reviewed and updated monthly by the registered manager to ensure that they reflect emerging risk and needs.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The registered manager has strengthened the home's procedures to ensure a consistent response when children return home after being missing from care or being away from the home without permission. This includes ensuring that staff proactively advocate for children to be offered an independent return home interview by the local authority.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children have comprehensive, individualised care plans that identify their needs, goals and the actions required to help them achieve their potential. Plans are reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that they are up to date and responsive to emerging need.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Purposeful conversations with children through key-work sessions help to support children to understand what acceptable behaviour is. This helps children to understand the potential consequences of harmful behaviour, including the impact on others. When children receive consequences, there is a clear record of the reason.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Children have opportunities to participate and engage in a range of activities outside of the home. Children are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms when they move into the home. One child commented that they felt well cared for and safe. Children live in a homely and nurturing environment that is warm and welcoming.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Leaders and managers have addressed the shortfalls previously identified by Ofsted. They have responded effectively and in a timely manner to the requirements and recommendations set out in the October 2025 inspection report. Assurance inspection report for children's home: 2835923 3 The recording of incidents and management oversight has improved.
