p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have still failed to ensure that children’s individual risk assessments identify all known risks to the child. The risk assessments have not been kept under review and do not contain up-to-date information. Furthermore, risk assessments do not provide staff with clear guidance, and there is conflicting information across records.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff do not have a shared understanding of how to safeguard the children in relation to their risks. This relates specifically to the arrangements in place for children to spend time out in the community safely. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2837185 2 When children have shared safeguarding concerns with staff, records indicate that there has sometimes been a lack of professional curiosity. The information shared by children is not always included in the child’s risk assessment. This hinders the risks to children being appropriately assessed.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The new manager has taken steps to implement systems that have led to improved structure in the day-to-day running of the home. There is improved management oversight. The manager sets clear expectations for staff, which has led to staff feeling better supported and staff said that they now have clarity regarding their role and responsibilities.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has introduced systems to ensure that staff provide children with consistent and continuous care, positive day-to-day routines, structure and boundaries. As a result, children’s sleep routines have improved.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have taken steps to address the shortfalls that led to a negative culture in the home. Staff said that they feel happier at work, and they said that they feel supported by leaders and managers. Staff have received supervision and group meetings have taken place.
p.2
This monitoring visit
There has been a review of staff skills and experience. Leaders and managers have addressed the shortfalls in a timely way. Staff have been provided with additional training, and all staff have restarted the provider’s induction programme. However, there were gaps in how staff development has been recorded across records.
