p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
The childminder demonstrates secure knowledge of delivering a broad and balanced curriculum. Through discussion, the childminder shares a suitable understanding of how children's starting points are identified during the settling-in period. Detailed information is gathered through an 'All About Me' form, including routines, interests, home language and any additional needs. Baseline assessments are completed when children begin, and observations are used to identify next steps in learning. The childminder explains that progress would be reviewed regularly with parents, including planned review meetings every couple of months to agree shared targets and strategies.

Leadership and governance Expected standard
Partnership working is central to the provision. Daily updates are shared with parents about care routines and learning experiences. There is a clear focus on supporting communication and language, including learning key words in children's home languages. Promoting independence and preparing children for school are identified as key priorities.

About this inspection
We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. About this inspection
There were no early years children present at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
