Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2817946 1 Registered provider: Sphere Care Solutions
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is owned and managed by a private company. It is registered to care for one child who may experience social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
There were no children living in the home at the time of this inspection.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
There is no registered manager in place. The current manager has applied to register with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of the monitoring visit was to review the actions taken by the provider to meet the compliance notices issued on 10 February 26. Notices had previously been issued in December 2025 but had not been met at the first monitoring visit. The notices were served under Regulation 12, the protection of children standard; and Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There has been no child in this home since the full inspection. Therefore, the manager has not been present in this home. The manager is currently overseeing another home for the provider which is not yet registered with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last visit, the manager has held a workshop with staff with the aim of developing their understanding around the importance of talking with children about risks and vulnerabilities. However, the manager has not reviewed or evaluated staff responses to identify strengths, shortfalls or further learning. This does not demonstrate that the manager takes action to improve staff knowledge and practice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has not provided staff with opportunities to improve their skills and understanding of safeguarding since the last monitoring visit. The topic is discussed in supervision sessions, however, the records do not demonstrate that this is Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2817946 2 discussed in any detail. There is no evidence of focussed work with staff to ensure that they understand their roles and responsibilities related to safeguarding children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A conversation was held with the team about supporting children’s safety when no court order is in place. However, the manager has not completed any work with staff on wider aspects of safeguarding or how to effectively support children to manage their behaviour. There has been some mention of staff using a therapeutic approach with a child in another home. However, there has been no focussed work with any member of the team.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Action has not been taken by the manager to improve staff’s knowledge of how to manage incidents of children going missing from the home. Similarly, there has been no work since the previous monitoring visit around how to accurately and effectively record action taken when children go missing or struggle with their behaviour.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Most staff have had supervision since the last monitoring visit. These sessions have taken place virtually and not in person. These include some reflection with staff and some efforts to discuss learning from a serious case review. Staff have all had a review of their performance. These are individualised to each member of staff. However, they do not provide clear development opportunities for staff and lack feedback from the manager. Staff are on performance improvement plans; however, these are not individualised and include an excessive and unrealistic number of actions for each member of staff to address. They are not beneficial for individual staff as they are all largely identical.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following this monitoring visit, a case review was held on 9 March 2026 where it was agreed that the provider has not taken sufficient action to meet the compliance notices. Other requirements made at the last inspection were not considered as part of the monitoring visit and have therefore been restated.
