p.1

Information about this inspection

 the care of children  the safety of children  the effectiveness of leaders and managers. The inspector has looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. This assurance inspection was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000 to assess the effectiveness of the service, how it meets the core functions of the service as set out in legislation, and to consider how well it complies with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the ‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards’. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2839990 2

p.1

Findings from the inspection

We did not identify any serious or widespread concerns in relation to the care or protection of children at this assurance inspection.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Leaders and managers are continuing to recruit staff to ensure that there is a permanent and full staff team at the home. Staf have completed their induction and mandatory training.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

There are shortfalls in the recruitment of staff. The records do not clearly detail whether leaders and managers have observed all staff Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificates. Furthermore, the interview records do not consistently evidence that staff can fulfil their roles and responsibilities. This does not support the safe recruitment of staff.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

The manager ensures that team meetings take place regularly and that staff receive supervision. This provides staff with opportunities to reflect on their training and identify areas for development. However, the manager does not receive regular supervision. This is a missed opportunity for leaders to review the manager’s practice and ensure that she is properly supported in her role.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

Leaders and managers failed to share the home’s updated statement of purpose with Ofsted as required by regulation. Furthermore, the manager has failed to ensure that the workforce development plan has been reviewed to include all staff details.

p.2

Findings from the inspection

The home continues to be maintained to a good standard in readiness for children moving in. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2839990 3
