p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children's home

This home provides care for up to 3 children who experience social and emotional difficulties. No children were living at the home at the time of this inspection.

p.1

Information about this children's home

The home and the manager registered with Ofsted September 2025.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 13 and 14 January 2026. Following the inspection, Ofsted served two compliance notices under the protection of children standard and the leadership and management standard.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The purpose of this visit was to establish the progress in meeting the steps set out in the compliance notices.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Some of the steps set out in the compliance notice in respect of the protection of harm standard and the leadership and management standard have not been met. Two requirements have been raised for the remaining steps.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The manager is now enrolled on the level 5 qualification. However, he has been unable to produce the relevant level 3 qualification. This does not ensure that the manager has completed the level 3 qualification within the required timescale and has the experience for their role.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Due to the child’s vulnerabilities and professionals’ concerns, the child was subject to a court order for 6 months. This imposed limitations on the child’s ability to spend time alone in the community without the presence of staff. When this order was removed by the court, the child was given a significant amount of free time in the community without a gradual increase. This led to the child spending prolonged time away from the home in various locations around the country. Indicators of child Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2858767 2 criminal exploitation were evident. Despite these indicators, leaders and manager did not effectively challenge or share their worries with the local authority. As a result, the child remained at risk of potential harm.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Despite day-to-day care, the child continues to have a poor sleep routine, often sleeping throughout the day and staying awake until the early hours of the morning. This has impacted the on child’s overall wellbeing and engagement.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Some improvements were made to support the child’s education, including a life skills programme being offered and an independent advocate to support the child’s views about their education. However, the child did not have a formal education provision in place, and informal education was not offered to the child daily by staff. Leaders and managers did not escalate their concerns regarding the child’s lack of formal education.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Additional measures were in place to support the child’s online presence. These include a better online filtering system being installed to support staff to identify potential concerns. However, the protective factors included in the child’s plans were not actioned by staff. This does not ensure all measures to reduce risks for children are implemented by staff.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The previous child was helped to move to a supported accommodation home in a planned way supported by staff.

p.2

This monitoring visit

On one occasion, it was suspected that the child was smoking in their bedroom. Staff took effective action to search the child’s bedroom and identify items that may pose a risk to the child. Staff held conversations with the child to support their understanding about why this could cause the child harm.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have supported staff to complete additional training to support them to develop their understanding and practice. Staff have completed an induction programme, and training has been provided in child criminal exploitation, online safety, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Staff can explain how they would put their learning into practice and feel more confident in their roles.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Updates have been made to audit systems to improve oversight of the home. This includes routine audits and checklists for staff. Changes made support managers to monitor the home effectively and identify weaknesses.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff supervision, team meetings and workshops have been used well to upskill staff and identify gaps in knowledge. Leaders and managers have spent time with staff who they have identified need further guidance and support. As a result, staff are clear on their roles and feel supported. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2858767 3 Improvements have been made to the fire precautions at the home. All staff have received a fire induction and taken part in a fire drill to ensure they know how to evacuate in the event of a fire.
