Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): EY549345 Registered with Ofsted: 22/09/2017 Registers: EYR, CCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder does not meet several requirements of registration. She does not have valid public liability insurance. The childminder has not rectified current risks in her garden. For example, the garden is untidy and contains pots and cartons that present as tripping hazards to children. This means that she is not fully promoting children's welfare. The childminder maintains a daily register of children. However, she does not demonstrate a secure understanding of the attendance procedure she would follow with parents. As a result, processes for responding to unexplained or prolonged absences are not fully clarified, which could affect the consistency of safeguarding practices and children's welfare.

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder understands why it is important to work closely with parents to provide regular updates on children's care and learning. She will talk to parents when they arrive to share useful information, such as daily activities and children's achievements. The childminder will discuss areas, such as toilet training and weaning, with parents to ensure a consistent approach to promote best outcomes for children. The childminder understands how to provide an ambitious curriculum that is based on areas of learning and children's interests. She will observe all children and this will help her to spot when a child is in need of extra help. The childminder will adapt activities to meet the needs of individual children to support their learning and development. She will advise parents to seek further advice from relevant professionals, such as the doctor or health visitor, where needed.

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

Generally, the childminder shows some commitment to keeping her skills and knowledge up to date. For example, she attends regular safeguarding and first-aid training updates. The childminder has also attended a course on working with parents and families, which has led to improved awareness in this area. Overall, the childminder evaluates her work and sets some relevant goals to bring about some improvements to her practice.

About this inspection

There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection.
