p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
The childminder understands how to devise a broad and balanced curriculum that promotes best outcomes for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). She knows how to adjust activities to meet the needs of those requiring extra support. The childminder realises the importance of working closely with parents to support children's learning. For example, she will ask for and follow any advice given to parents by health professionals to support the progress of children with SEND. The childminder will provide daily verbal feedback to all parents to keep them informed of their child's learning and development. She will offer parents advice on how to support children's growing independence skills, such as learning to feed themselves.
p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
The childminder reviews her work and sets relevant goals to build improvements. Overall, the childminder maintains her skills and knowledge, for instance, by attending different courses. For example, she attended a course on story telling that led to greater awareness of how to support children's language and literacy skills further. However, the childminder has not aligned her training needs with her priorities for improvement to promote best outcomes for children. For example, she aims to offer a wider variety of activities to engage children further in their learning. However, she has focused her training needs on this. This means that her training is not best attuned to help children to excel in their learning and development.
