This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 20 and 21 January 2026. Four compliance notices were served regarding the health and wellbeing of the children, the leadership and management of the home, behaviour management, policies and records and the fitness of the provider.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A monitoring visit was conducted on 24 February 2026. The purpose of this visit was to review the progress that the provider has made to meet the steps in the compliance notices. At this visit, the provider has taken appropriate action to meet the compliance notices. Some of the steps in the notices were addressed without being tested. Because of this, these are raised as requirements to be reviewed at the next inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, no children have moved into or on from the home. Three children were living at the home at the time of this inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received advice from children’s local authorities so they can appropriately and safely meet children’s health needs. Staff have also received the appropriate consent from the local authority to action this. Leaders and managers have written clear protocols and plans directing staff to ensure that children’s complex health needs are understood and met. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC462450 2 Children have required emergency medical care since the last inspection and staff have ensured that timely action was taken. Children’s social workers have been updated promptly. Staff are clear of the expectations of their role.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have not had to physically intervene with children to help keep them safe since the last inspection. However, leaders and managers have taken action to educate staff to ensure that they understand when to use physical intervention. Children’s plans have been updated to clearly reflect this framework. Alternative methods of de-escalation have also been added to these plans. Staff are becoming more confident in using these methods to ensure that the use of physical intervention is used only as a last resort, and only when reasonable, necessary and proportionate.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The management monitoring of the home is becoming more effective. The responsible individual, leaders and managers have reflected on the findings of the last inspection and put immediate systems and processes in place to increase management oversight. These systems have helped them to improve decision- making and recognise and act on shortfalls quickly. As a result, leaders and managers have grown in confidence. Children’s care is safer and more effectively planned.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers’ monitoring of children’s reports and daily handovers is more efficient. They have a greater awareness of children’s needs, ensuring that any follow-up action is done in a timely way. Leaders and managers reflect with staff about specific incidents or concerns to help increase their learning. This will help continue to build a proactive and reflective culture within the staff team.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, a selection of training has been made available for staff. Staff have completed most of the training. However, some training is still outstanding. The responsible individual has identified further areas for development within the leadership and management team. They are trying to build a learning culture.
