p.2
Findings from the inspection
The child is effectively supported to understand potential risks and to develop strategies that enable them to make safe, informed decisions to reduce risks. As a result, the previously required deprivation of liberty safeguards are no longer needed.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff understand what actions they need to take when the child goes missing from home. They act promptly and proactively, initiating searches and working effectively with partner agencies, including the police, to ensure the child's safe return. When the child returns home, staff respond with warmth and reassurance. Leaders and managers have oversight of missing from home incidents. They talk to the child about the reasons why they go missing. Since moving to this home, the child has been missing only once, which is a significant reduction for them.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The child is supported to develop their independence. They are supported to manage budgets, plan weekly meals, prepare for job interviews, engage in activities, and have learnt how to cook for themselves. This demonstrates that staff help to prepare the child for adulthood.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff have a clear understanding of the child's needs and wishes. When the child self-harms, staff talk to the child, support the child with immediate first aid and seek medical attention. Staff ensure that room searches are completed to remove any items that may present a risk. The home's therapist offers regular therapeutic support in a safe and consistent environment, helping the child to explore their feelings and develop healthier coping strategies.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff have built positive relationships with the child. The child knows which staff they can approach to share any worries and is confident about how to raise a complaint. Leaders and managers review complaints and ensure that the child is spoken to about the outcome and the actions taken. As a result, the child feels listened to and reassured that their views are taken seriously.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The home has been without a registered manager since the previous manager's resignation. Management oversight is provided by another manager in the company, the responsible individual, and an operations manager. However, the provider is yet to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced manager.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff are clear about the steps they must take if they have concerns about other staff's practice. They feel able to speak openly with leaders and managers and share Assurance inspection report for the children's home: 2818907 3 their views, knowing that these will be taken seriously and acted upon. Staff understand what action to take to ensure that the child is cared for by safe adults.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The child receives consistent care from a stable and dedicated staff team. Staff feel well supported by leaders and managers, who provide regular opportunities for reflection and professional development. This helps staff to continually strengthen their practice and build their skills and knowledge.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
Additional training is identified and delivered to ensure that staff are equipped to meet the child's needs effectively. As a result, the child is cared for by adults who know them well, understand their needs and can keep them safe. Assurance inspection report for the children's home: 2818907 4
