Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): EY560122 Registered with Ofsted: 23/10/2018 Registers: EYR, CCR, VCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder does not fully understand her role and responsibilities as a childminder in her own right. She takes on the role of an assistant working alongside her co-childminder. Although the childminder has completed safeguarding training and can identify when children may be at risk of harm, she does not know the correct procedures to follow to report safeguarding concerns in line with local safeguarding procedures. This includes the procedure to follow to report allegations about adults who work with children. This places children at risk of harm.

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder is unable to demonstrate a secure understanding of how to plan a well- sequenced curriculum that builds on what children already know and can do. She plans to provide fun and exciting activities for children but has not considered how to enhance children's learning. This does not demonstrate high ambitions for children.

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder has taken sufficient steps towards meeting the actions previously set. For example, she has ensured that all relevant information relating to children will be sought at the time of registration. In addition, she has considered the space available to children and made adaptations to better suit the amount of children that will attend. She understands the benefits this will have on her provision. The childminder is yet to recognise that further changes are needed to drive improvement to ensure she can provide high standards of education and care for children.

About this inspection

There were no early years children present or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.

p.3

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that his provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.
