p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit was undertaken to address specific concerns or allegations received by Ofsted. These related to concerns about the leadership and management of the home, and the safety of the children living at there.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Unplanned and abrupt changes to the leadership and management of the home have not been well managed. This has left staff feeling unsettled and unclear about the management arrangements and has led to instability of the staff team. Staff said that they feel unsupported, and some staff said that they are concerned about the culture in the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Risk assessments do not identify all known risks to the children. They have not been kept under review and updated when serious incidents happen and the risks to children changes. Furthermore, risk assessments do not provide staff with guidance on how to mitigate the risk. Staff do not have a shared understanding of how to safeguard the children in relation to their risks and vulnerabilities. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2837185 2 At times, children have struggled to live together harmoniously. Children have been left without appropriate supervision. This led to the children being involved in a physical altercation and one child needing medical attention.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Staff are not provided with effective guidance and leadership. Staff are unclear about their roles and responsibilities, which has led to shortfalls in how well children are cared for and how they are kept safe. One child is subject to restrictions through a court order. However, the manager and staff are unclear about the restrictions and the steps that they should take to keep the child safe.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have failed to evaluate the quality of training provided to staff. Some staff said that the training provided does not equip them with the necessary skills to fulfil their role. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2837185 3
