During the monitoring inspection, inspectors focused on the following theme:

progress in ensuring effective safeguarding arrangements – this means how much progress leaders and managers have made in ensuring that effective safeguarding arrangements are in place
p.1
Reasonable progress: the provider’s actions are already having a beneficial impact on apprentices. Improvements are sustainable and are based on the provider’s thorough quality assurance procedures.
p.1
Since the recent new provider monitoring visit, leaders acted quickly to bring about improvements to ensure they consistently promote and monitor the safeguarding and wellbeing of apprentices. A trained designated safeguarding lead and senior leaders oversee all safeguarding activity.
p.1
A detailed safeguarding policy underpins safeguarding practice. The policy clearly sets out the organisation’s approach to safeguarding, including safe recruitment procedures that ensure staff are suitable to work with apprentices. Leaders are working closely with the regional ‘Prevent’ networks to develop an effective risk assessment and policy identifying the risks of individuals being drawn into extremist ideologies.
p.1
Leaders and managers ensure that staff receive appropriate safeguarding training. Following formal safeguarding training, staff continue to develop their understanding of this area through frequent in-house training.
p.1
Apprentices feel safe at work and during their training. They work in a highly regulated industry and know how to report a safeguarding concern if necessary. They are confident that leaders will deal with any concerns quickly and effectively.
