Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): EY257163 Registered with Ofsted: 18/06/2003 Registers: EYR, CCR, VCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder does not keep her knowledge of safeguarding issues, including the 'Prevent' duty guidance, up to date. This has been previously highlighted as a concern. She also has a weak understanding of procedures for handling allegations against her and household members. Since the last inspection, the childminder has not made effective use of the self-evaluation process to identify strengths and areas that need improvement. She does not actively promote her professional development to secure her knowledge of early years requirements. The childminder's understanding of how to promote children's healthy lifestyles is weak. This is particularly in regards to the provision of balanced and nutritious meals to support children's healthy eating habits. She does not hold valid public liability insurance for her premises, which is a legal requirement.

p.1

Leadership and governance Urgent improvement

The childminder has poor knowledge of how to work with parents and other professionals to support children's learning and care needs. She lacks knowledge of the requirements for notifying Ofsted within the required time frame. The childminder explains how she will help children to behave appropriately in the setting. There are age-appropriate toys and resources that will be made available to children. However, she does not know how to plan and deliver an ambitious curriculum for different groups of children. This includes children who may have special educational needs and/or disabilities.

p.4

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.4

About this inspection

There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.

p.4

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection as a result of a risk assessment, following information we received about the provider. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this.
