the care of children the safety of children the effectiveness of leaders and managers. Inspectors have looked closely at the experiences and progress of children, using the social care common inspection framework. This assurance inspection was carried out under the Care Standards Act 2000 to assess the effectiveness of the service, how it meets the core functions of the service as set out in legislation, and to consider how well it complies with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the ‘Guide to the Children’s Homes Regulations, including the quality standards’. p.1
Findings from the inspection
The inspector did not identify any serious or widespread concerns regarding the care or protection of children during this assurance visit. The home continues to operate safely, and children’s welfare is actively promoted.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The shortfalls identified at the previous inspection have been addressed effectively by the new manager. She has supported the staff team to understand the required changes and has overseen their implementation, resulting in noticeable improvements in practice.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Since the last inspection, the registered manager has left the organisation. A carefully planned and well-managed handover took place to minimise disruption to children. The previous manager approached his departure sensitively, ensuring that the children’s emotional needs were prioritised throughout the process.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
There is now a stable and consistent staff team. As a result, children are benefitting from continuity of care and have established secure, trusting relationships with the adults looking after them.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The manager has prioritised engagement with children’s parents, working collaboratively to address the risks and concerns associated with the children’s behaviours. An example of this is the Christmas Day celebration hosted at the home, where parents were invited to spend time with their children. This event had a positive impact, allowing the children to experience a meaningful and enjoyable day surrounded by the people who care about them.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Since the last inspection, one child who had been quiet and withdrawn is now displaying increased confidence. They are taking part in activities, including rollerblading outside the home, and their school attendance has improved. This increased engagement has contributed to better daily structure, and the child is now more able to express their views.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff have received enhanced support, including fortnightly team meetings, which have strengthened their understanding of role expectations. Children now benefit from clear and consistent boundaries. Incidents have been managed appropriately, with effective oversight from the manager, ensuring that responses are proportionate, safe and well recorded.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
Staff are receiving regular and meaningful supervision. For most, this is occurring on a fortnightly basis, providing time to reflect on practice, consider the children’s progress and discuss any personal or professional matters requiring support.
p.2
Findings from the inspection
The manager has implemented a robust system for monitoring the quality of care provided to children. She recognises the importance of delegating responsibilities and demonstrates confidence in her team, supported by her deputy manager. Assurance inspection report for children's home: 2836695 3 However, given the period of previous instability, she has maintained close oversight to ensure standards are raised and compliance is achieved.
