On 30 September and 1 October 2025, an assurance inspection was carried out to review the provider’s response to serious incidents that had been notified to Ofsted. This inspection identified serious and widespread concerns regarding the care and protection of children. The responsible individual provided a clear action plan to address the concerns identified and provided assurances that no more children would move into the home until they were satisfied with the improvements.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A monitoring visit was carried out on 13 November 2025 to review the provider’s progress against their action plan and review the improvements made to the experiences, wellbeing, and safety of children. The visit identified a lack of progress and further shortfalls regarding the care and protection of children. Ofsted issued 2 compliance notices under Regulation 12, ‘The protection of children standard’, and Regulation 13, ‘The leadership and management standard’.

This monitoring visit
Senior leaders have implemented systems and identified resources to support the management of the home. However, these systems are not effective as inaccuracies Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: SC483220 2 in staff reporting and recording are not consistently recognised or responded to in a way that brings about change. The deputy manager has not received consistent and effective support to carry out the day-to-day operation of the home and fulfil their role and responsibility.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Notifications of serious incidents to Ofsted lack detail and assurances, and on one occasion a notification was not received in a timely manner. This makes it difficult for Ofsted to appropriately assess and review the quality of care provided to children or the action taken by staff to protect children from the risk of harm.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff know the children well and children feel comfortable approaching staff for support and guidance. Staff regularly carry out focused discussions with children to educate them on their individual risks. Children can reflect on their risks and explore and understand their emotions in a safe space.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff ensure that children are actively involved in the decisions about their care and daily routines. One child has been supported to understand their emerging health condition and the proposed treatment plan. Staff keep children updated about matters that are important to them. This helps children to maintain their sense of safety and stability.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff understand the provider’s model of care and use it to support children and de- escalate situations when children are upset. Staff follow clear processes to support each child’s individual safety. Leaders and managers encourage staff to reflect on incidents and use this learning to further develop the care children receive. When children make allegations, staff take steps to ensure that children are kept informed about the progress of these matters and the actions being taken.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Significant refurbishment and changes have been made to the home to create a safe, welcoming environment for children. New carpets have been fitted, and rooms have been decorated and refurbished. Children’s views inform decisions about the presentation of the home. One child has changed the layout of one of their favourite communal rooms. Another child has chosen to move bedrooms, as this provides space for their music equipment. However, despite the evident changes, not all repairs and hazards have been identified and reported.
