Leadership and governance Expected standard

Through discussions, leaders demonstrate that the setting is meeting the early years foundation stage statutory requirements. They have a comprehensive understanding of the setting's strengths and areas in which it needs to develop, and they put effective plans in place that drive improvements. Leaders support staff in their professional development, which helps them to have the knowledge and skills for their roles. Leaders provide staff with regular opportunities for professional development, including staff meetings, supervisions and daily feedback. Leaders support staff to manage their workloads. They help them to prioritise their work and ensure that they are focusing on what matters the most. Leaders work flexibly and adapt their approach as the needs of the setting change. Leaders demonstrate how they engage with children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and take their needs and interests into

consideration when planning for the setting. They prioritise activities that support children's wellbeing, for example providing quiet areas for children to relax in as well as more active indoor and outdoor activities for children to choose from. Leaders communicate with parents to gather information about their children, particularly those with SEND. This information supports staff to have a good understanding of how to care for each individual child. Leaders communicate with teachers in the school to support children's transitions between the settings, enabling children to settle quickly into each session. Leaders seek from teachers information that will help them to plan each session to best support children's needs.

p.3

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.3

About this inspection

There were no early years children present or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
