The home is operated by a private organisation. It provides care for one child who may experience social and emotional difficulties or learning disabilities.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

At the time of this visit, one child was living at the home. The child spoke to the inspector about their experiences of living at the home.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The registered manager post has been vacant since 28 April 2025.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This home was judged as inadequate at the inspection on 8 October 2025. Compliance notices relating to Regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard, were issued.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit was undertaken to monitor the actions taken by the provider to meet the compliance notices.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, one child remains living in the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Risk management plans for the child do not include all known risks. This means that plans are not in place to provide staff with clear steps on the actions to take to meet the child’s needs and manage risks. Staff and managers were not aware of all risks for the child. Leaders and managers had not taken action to understand the child and their risks since starting in the home. Systems are not in place to identify shortfalls in practice, or any lessons learned following previous incidents.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The child has been provided with opportunities to share their views, wishes and feelings when there have been incidents. Incidents have included debriefs for staff, Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2744473 2 and the manager has had oversight. Additional emotional support has been offered to the child.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There has been changes in the leadership and management of the home since the last inspection. The most recent manager was suspended, and they later resigned. There is an interim manager overseeing the home while the provider recruits a new manager. There is no responsible individual in post. A new responsible individual is in the process of being recruited.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have received supervision, including the manager. These sessions provide opportunities for staff to reflect on their practice, well-being and the child in their care.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have received further training on safeguarding and ligature risks. However, staff have not received training on all topics relevant to the child’s needs. This means that staff do not have the skills and understanding to meet all of the child’s specific needs.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers do not have effective internal and external monitoring systems in place. This limits oversight of practice and reduces the opportunity for leaders and managers to reflect and develop to improve the quality of care in the home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A case review was held on 9 December 2025. The outcome of this was that sufficient action has not been taken to meet the compliance notices. Compliance notices under Regulation 12 and Regulation 13 have been reissued. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2744473 3
