p.1
Information about this children's home
There is currently no registered manager in post.
p.1
Information about this children's home
There is a separately registered school on site. The inspectors only inspected the social care provision.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The full inspection took place on 3 and 4 November 2025. The home was graded inadequate. Two compliance notices were served under regulation 13, the leadership and management standard and regulation 12, the protection of children standard. This monitoring visit was to explore the steps taken by leaders and managers to meet the steps set out in the notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Both compliance notices have been met. Leaders and managers have developed tools to improve the oversight of the home. This has resulted in a strengthened approach to safeguarding children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers have devised a new tool that shares information with staff about changes to risk assessments in a more efficient way. The new documents show staff what the change is and what has led to this. This helps staff to better understand risk assessments and the process of updating these. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2730001 2 There have been no incidents of ligatures since the last inspection. Managers have ensured that staff have appropriate resources available to them if an incident was to happen in future. Monitoring systems have also been developed that easily highlight if ligature cutting equipment needs to be changed.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received refreshed training, for example, on what to do if a child has bruises from a restraint. Following the training, staff completed a quiz to demonstrate how they have assimilated the learning into their knowledge base.
p.2
This monitoring visit
An interim manager is in place. He has a detailed development plan in place. He is aware of the ongoing concerns. Together with the responsible individual, they are committed to improving the service.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff have not always understood situations that involve risk. For example, the manager had told staff that a child's friend could not visit the home unless this was agreed by managers and the social worker. However, the child told staff that the visit could go ahead. Staff took the child's word for this and allowed the visitor into the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers recognised the staff failings and carried out a full investigation. This had a strengths-based approach and looked at what went well, what did not go well and what needs to happen to minimise the likelihood of incidents like this happening again. Staff have been provided with clear opportunities to learn from this, alongside a formal response that reiterates the seriousness of their misjudgement. This supports staff to improve their practice. Another investigation into misjudgements involving medication resulted in learning that has been shared among managers across the site.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Two requirements were not explored at this visit. Leaders and managers are completing ongoing work to meet them. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2730001 3
