p.1
Information about this children’s home
At the time of this inspection, one child was living in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
An assurance inspection was undertaken on 10 September 2025. This inspection was undertaken in response to concerns in relation to safeguarding practices and leadership and management. During this visit, inspectors identified serious and widespread concerns in relation to the care and protection of children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following the assurance inspection, Ofsted decided to restrict accommodation at the children’s home under section 22B of the Care Standards Act 2000 (the Act) with immediate effect and issued compliance notices under regulation 12 and regulation 13.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was carried out to monitor the restriction of accommodation notice and to review the actions taken to meet the compliance notices. Inspectors found that the provider has complied with the restriction of accommodation notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the previous inspection, one child has come to live at the home. Leaders and managers considered the child’s needs before they came to live at the home, reviewing the referral and meeting with the child’s social worker and team manager. However, key training linked to the child’s needs, including post-traumatic stress disorder, was not completed by all staff and only took place after the child moved in. This means there was a delay in ensuring that all staff had the skills and knowledge to fully meet the child’s needs. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2794450 2 Children are supported by staff when moving into the home and encouraged to personalise their bedrooms. Leaders and managers met with the child before they moved in to help them prepare. The child received a copy of the children’s guide to ensure they understood what to expect.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The child is developing positive relationships with staff, who support their individual interests. The child has a strong interest in animals and attends stable management sessions. To celebrate the child’s birthday, staff bought them a rabbit and a guinea pig. This helps the child to feel valued, understood and supported and promotes their sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Children are supported to manage their feelings safely. However, following an incident of self-harm, staff did not carry out a room search, which led to a further incident. Records do not provide a full account of events, and details, including how the child harmed themselves, are missing. Dates are inaccurate and actions taken by staff are unclear. When the child raised a concern about receiving an online threat from a peer who appeared to know their address, staff did not take any action. These shortfalls impact on the safeguarding of the child and staff’s ability to ensure the child’s concerns and risks are fully understood and addressed.
p.2
This monitoring visit
At the assurance inspection, concerns were raised that staff were not using a trauma-informed approach and were contacting the police in situations where this may not have been appropriate. The improvement plan notes that staff attended a face-to-face trauma-informed practice and co-regulation workshop. However, this training predates the inspection, and it is not clear if it has had a subsequent impact on staff practice or that the concerns identified have been addressed.
p.2
This monitoring visit
In addition, not all staff are confident in responding to incidents of self-harm, and only a small number have completed the available online training. This limits the development of consistent practice and staff’s ability to respond safely and therapeutically to the child’s needs.
