Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2849775 1 Registered provider: Jupiter Child Care Services Ltd

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is operated by a private organisation and provides care for children who may have social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

At the time of this inspection, two children were living at the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 6 and 7 October 2025. The inspector found significant shortfalls in safeguarding practice and the leadership and management of the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Following the full inspection, three compliance notices were issued under section 22A of the Care Standards Act 2000. These were for regulation 12, the protection of children standard, regulation 13, the leadership and management standard and regulation 36, children’s case records of The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit took place to monitor the action taken by the provider in relation to the compliance notices.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Two children remain living at the home and continue to make progress.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A new manager has started working at the home and has made significant changes in a short time. The manager understands the shortfalls and knows what needs to improve to support the children and staff. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2849775 2 Supervision is taking place with staff, and team meetings are being held regularly. This allows staff the opportunity to share learning and reflect on their practice and support for children.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Staff help children to recognise and manage their feelings and emotions. Children are given opportunities to reflect on their behaviour after incidents and consider alternative responses.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Children’s plans have improved and now detail their views and wishes. Risk and behaviour support plans contain clear guidance for staff to follow to keep children safe, and arrangements for family time are clear.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have challenged the children’s placing authorities for failing to provide all statutory documents and the anomalies identified in the documents they have received. Although they still do not have all the documents, leaders and managers have recently implemented an escalation process to follow.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, staff have attended additional training, such as safeguarding and reporting and recording, to further improve their knowledge and practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have introduced monitoring and review systems to improve management oversight; however, these are not fully embedded in practice. Shortfalls were identified in the children’s records about their health diagnosis. The manager addressed this during the monitoring visit.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Fire drills now include staff and children, and these are clearly recorded.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The requirements made at the last inspection are outside the scope of this visit. These will be reviewed at the next inspection.
