This monitoring visit
The manager’s review of missing episodes does not highlight important information to help keep children safe. For example, the manager’s review of missing incidents did not include who the child was with, their address or the circumstances in which the child was found. Furthermore, plans have not been updated to include this important information. Consequently, this information was not considered in two further incidents, which may have helped police and staff to act sooner to safeguard the child.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has not been effective in ensuring that staff who are working with children are suitable to do so safely. One staff member’s Disclosure and Barring Service check showed that they have been convicted of a violent offence. However, the manager has not recognised this as a potential risk to children in their care. This has allowed an unsuitable adult to work with vulnerable children. Action has been taken to address the shortfalls in recruitment practice to ensure that this does not happen again. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC455864 3
