The provider offers therapeutic parental support consultations for adoptive parents. The registered provider also works with adopted adults.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This adoption support agency was judged to be outstanding at the last full inspection in March 2023. Since then, an amendment to the adoption support agency regulations has come into force. This exempts some adoption support agencies from the requirement to register with, and therefore be inspected by, Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection in March 2023, the registered provider has only undertaken work with children when it has been under contract to a local authority or adoption agency. They have also worked with adults. This means that none of the adoption support work is in scope for this inspection. Because of this, Ofsted undertook a monitoring visit to establish whether the service remains compliant with regulatory requirements, should the service undertake regulated adoption support work in the future. Based on the findings from this visit, Ofsted is satisfied that the registered provider remains able to undertake this work.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered provider continues to provide adoption support that responds to individual needs and experiences. Clear referral processes enable the registered Inspection report for adoption support agency - monitoring: Simon Kerr-Edwards 2 provider to develop bespoke therapy plans. A system of regular progress reviews enables everyone involved to reflect on and recognise progress made as well as identifying areas of future work. There are regular opportunities for individual feedback to the registered provider about the quality of the adoption support.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered provider has implemented systems and processes to ensure that anyone accessing the service is safeguarded. He is clear about his own responsibilities and works as part of the multi-agency team to support children and families where necessary. He recognises the risks of operating as a solo practitioner and invites external scrutiny of the service through independent supervision of his clinical practice and professional reviews of his business.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The registered provider is a knowledgeable, highly experienced practitioner. He is committed to his own learning and development, drawing on training and research to ensure that his practice remains current. In addition, he provides clinical supervision and training to other practitioners, retaining strong links with the wider play therapy and adoption support sectors.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The registered provider has exceptional oversight of all elements of the adoption support agency operations. Not only does this promote the safety and welfare of those who use the service, it also supports stability of the business. He has not completed a formal management qualification relevant to operating an adoption support agency. However, considering the size of the service and the strength of his oversight, there is no impact identified as arising from this.
