This provision does not meet requirements
There are identified breaches of the statutory requirements of the early years foundation stage (EYFS). After a breach was identified by the inspector, leaders have now taken action to enable suitability checks to be undertaken for directors. However, the setting does not have suitably qualified staff as required for after- school provision where young children attend.

Children enjoy their time at this after-school club. They arrive happily, and they quickly join in with the activities provided. Staff set clear rules and routines, and children demonstrate good understanding of how these boundaries keep them safe. Children behave well, mix well with friends of different ages and ensure that they include all children in their play. This fosters an inclusive culture and supports children to feel a sense of community in the group.

Outdoor play is a popular choice with all children. They enjoy playing ball games and using the play equipment in the school playground. Younger children are encouraged to tackle challenges independently and call staff to see them when they successfully balance along a rope. Staff observe and position themselves close by so they can offer support when needed. Children enjoy having the opportunity to relax together at the club. They take their shoes off, flop onto beanbags and listen to stories or chat about their day with their friends and staff.

need to do better?
n Leaders have not ensured that information about new directors is provided to Ofsted in a timely manner to enable necessary suitability checks to be completed. This is a breach of statutory requirements. However, the impact of this on children is minimal as additional directors do not spend any time in the after-school club when children are present. n Leaders have not ensured that there is a manager or any staff present at the time of the inspection with an approved qualification at level 3 or above. This is a requirement for after-school provision where children who are younger than the Reception Year attend. n Despite the breaches in requirements, staff ensure that they consider the ages of the children who attend each day to provide activities and resources to meet their needs. A key person is allocated for children who are still in the EYFS. Staff communicate closely with school staff working with the children to ensure that

They take turns to operate the controls, making sure that they do not impact on areas where others are playing or working. When a car gets stuck under the piano, older children support younger children to operate the remote control to manoeuvre it out. n Snack is a sociable time. Children pre-select their food options before each session. They sit with staff and their peers and are encouraged to choose from a fruit platter, making sure that they pass this around to share, as they chat about their day. Children take responsibility for helping to set up ready for snack time and clearing away afterwards. When children join the after-school club later, due to attending a club at the school, they are welcomed and quickly wash their

hands. They then join staff to have their snack and chat about their day before choosing an activity to engage with. n Children have the opportunity to complete homework with the support of staff from the after-school club. Older children enjoy testing each other with their spellings and setting each other challenges. n Parents and grandparents comment that they are happy with the provision because their children are happy to come here. Parents like the fact that their children get to mix with those of other ages while they are here. They comment that their children want to come every day and like to pop in to see the staff even when it is not their day to attend.
