p.1
The provision is inadequate
The childminder's understanding of her role and responsibilities is limited. For instance, she lacks effective oversight and has not kept up to date with changes to ensure that she is compliant with the early years foundation stage requirements. The childminder has not made sufficient improvements since her last inspection. She has undertaken some training and engaged with support offered by the local authority. However, she has not used this well enough to address the weakness in her curriculum knowledge and teaching. The childminder is aware of what children should know and do for future learning, but has not considered how to plan or sequence her curriculum to ensure that children gain these skills. Consequently, children's learning and their progress are incidental rather than planned.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
The childminder reminds children of the behavioural expectations. She reminds them to use their manners, be kind to their friends and to share. Overall, children listen to the childminder, follow her instructions and play well together. However, due to a lack of stimulating activities and resources, they quickly lose interest and become bored.
p.2
The provision is inadequate
Despite these weaknesses identified during the inspection, children are happy and settled. They develop close attachments to the childminder, who is attentive to their needs. The childminder speaks kindly to children as they play and uses praise to promote positive behaviour.
p.2
need to do better?
n The childminder has not implemented a well-designed curriculum that takes into account children's individual needs. She does not purposefully plan what she wants children to learn during activities and does not ensure that all children are fully engaged. The curriculum is not ambitious and challenging enough to ensure that children progress well in their learning and development. Therefore, although children enjoy activities such as art, outdoor play and visiting museums, parks and playgroups, they are not sufficiently challenged. n While her home is generally clean, the childminder does not recognise the importance of responding promptly to ensure that the environment remains suitably hygienic, for example, after toileting accidents. She teaches children basic personal care routines, such as washing their hands before eating. However, this practice is not consistent after toileting. n The resources the childminder provides are well maintained and clean. However,

she has not identified or addressed potential risks to children in the environment. For example, cleaning products are left out and stored in areas that are accessible to children. This does not adequately promote children's safety and welfare.
p.2
need to do better?
19 September 2025 n The childminder understands some aspects of safeguarding. For example, she is able to discuss the potential signs of abuse and neglect. The childminder is also aware of her responsibility to report safeguarding concerns, including if an allegation was made against herself. However, the childminder does not have sufficient knowledge to ensure that she would be able to promptly follow the correct referral procedure, should the need arise. This does not adequately promote children's safety and welfare. n Arrangements to provide continuity for children who attend more than one setting are not effective. The childminder does not recognise the importance of communicating with staff at other settings children attend to be able to provide a coordinated approach to their care and learning. n The childminder provides opportunities for children to practise their physical skills. Children enjoy engaging in active play in the childminder's garden, such as

running around and playing ball games. They also have fun as they enthusiastically dance along to music. n The childminder gives some effective consideration to supporting children's speech and language skills. She engages them in back-and-forth conversations, for example, as they talk about the constructions they have made. The childminder also asks a range of interesting questions to encourage children's communication. She gives them the time they need to think through their ideas before they respond.
