p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 2 and 3 July 2025. Inspectors found several regulatory breaches that impacted on children’s safety and their welfare. In response to these serious and widespread concerns, Ofsted immediately suspended the service on 3 July 2025. Ofsted also issued two compliance notices under regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 19 August 2025, a visit was carried out to monitor the suspension notice and review the action taken by the provider to address the compliance notices. The compliance notices were not met, and the suspension notice remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was carried out to further monitor the suspension notice and to continue to review the effectiveness of the action taken by the provider to address the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has recently appointed a business manager. In the absence of the registered manager and a responsible individual, the business manager is managing the improvements in the home. The business manager has insight into the changes Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2812360 2 required and has developed an action plan to actively respond to the steps detailed in the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following the resignation of the registered manager, the provider is actively recruiting to appoint to this position. A number of core staff have already been recruited. These staff are currently working from home. They have been tasked with carrying out the provider’s mandatory and additional training to ensure they can meet the needs of children. Staff have not participated in staff meetings or supervision sessions. There are plans in place for these to commence once further staff are recruited into senior positions.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following previous intervention from the Fire and Rescue Service, the provider has continued to rectify concerns regarding fire safety in the home. Further work to maintain fire safety in the home is required, as detailed in the fire risk assessment and the provider’s policy and procedures.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The home is not furnished or maintained to a good standard. It does not provide a homely or nurturing environment for children or protect them from avoidable hazards. Work is continuing in the home to address issues, including damp, decoration and replacement of the damaged furniture and carpets. A window remains boarded up, and the absence of window coverings impacts on children’s privacy. The home continues to be dirty and dusty following fire safety and maintenance work. However, the business manager recognises the level of upgrading, painting and decoration that is required.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have not taken sufficient action to address the steps set in the compliance notices. Requirements that were restated at the last inspection are outside the scope of this visit. These will be reviewed at the next inspection. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2812360 3
