The provision is outstanding
Children relish spending time in the childminder's company and settle quickly, joining in with enthusiasm. She has a fun, kind and caring manner. Children build very strong and beneficial bonds with her and quickly settle into her provision. She is very attentive to children's needs and in tune with their feelings. She gets to know them very well and ensures that she can support their physical and mental well-being closely and very effectively. Parents say that the childminder genuinely cares about children and that she provides a warm, welcoming and highly professional setting with children completely at its heart.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
The childminder has extremely high expectations for children, including the youngest. She focuses on the key skills children need, building children's sense of belonging, independence, resilience and confidence. Children independently chop and peel fruit for their snack. They develop a strong sense of responsibility, conscientiously wiping their faces and hands when they have finished their meal and carrying their plates out to the kitchen. The childminder thoughtfully and sensitively introduces new ideas and additional resources as children play, following children's current fascinations. For example, she finds bags with zips for the older babies to explore. They are captivated and repeat the movement and skill. She engages children superbly, linking activities to dinosaurs. She skilfully motivates children and builds their self-confidence to have a go and persevere to achieve tasks. Children become deeply engaged. They make marks in play dough with a toy

dinosaur's feet and shape the dough with the childminder's skilful modelling. They make a horn for the dinosaur, smiling proudly as the childminder praises them. Children show exceptionally positive attitudes and gain key skills for the next stage in their education.

n The childminder patiently takes time during the routines of the day to encourage children to learn about their bodies and develop healthy lifestyles. Following recent training, she supports older babies to join in toileting routines, introducing early opportunities for them to understand and practise these skills. She discusses healthy food, how it benefits their bodies and which items are treats, as children imaginatively play, teaching them good habits. She offers healthy meals and involves children in choosing and preparing their snack, learning about different fruits and foods. n Children develop their communication exceptionally well at a young age. The childminder repeats words back with the correct pronunciation to help build children's speech sensitively. She reads to them, models words and explains new terms to develop their growing language. She provides children with clear explanations and uses some signs to reinforce meaning for older babies, sharing

The childminder has a song for every routine, and children spontaneously burst into song independently, such as when they wash their hands. n Children show thoughtful behaviour and respect for the childminder and each other. They receive clear, patient support and timely effective reminders to help them deal with their emotions and communicate their needs. Children take turns with toys and share their toys from home. Older children learn to appreciate the needs of the babies. They listen to the childminder's clear explanations and then considerately follow adapted arrangements, making sure they all stay safe. n The childminder supports collaborative working and very strong partnerships with parents, sharing information clearly and keeping them exceptionally well informed. She continually seeks training and shares her new knowledge and other ideas with parents to support children's learning at home very well. She

liaises closely with other settings children attend to provide a highly consistent approach for children across all aspects of their lives. n The childminder observes children and undertakes detailed assessments of their development. She identifies detailed next steps for children based on her assessments of their progress. These are accompanied by clear strategies to help children to achieve them. She shares these with parents to promote a consistent approach to learning between the setting and home. n The childminder provides children with a wealth of trips out into the community. They visit an aerospace museum and other museums in the city centre to develop children's curiosity and knowledge of the world. Children mix with other children at play-based groups and on joint outings with other childminders. They enjoy trips to farm parks to learn about animals. Children learn resilience and confidence in new surroundings on their weekly 'forest outings', developing a

love of nature and being outdoors. n Children build their physical skills excellently. Older babies coordinate their movements superbly, working hard to turn the tap on the water dispenser and building their strength transporting water in pots. Children persevere in pulling the handles on spray bottles, showing their developing aim and effectiveness as they put out a pretend fire. Children recognise risks and manage these through the childminder's patient explanations. Older babies show exceptional understanding, getting off their little trike and bumping it down the step, then getting back on to continue their play safely.
