p.1
Information about this children’s home
There has been no registered manager since May 2025.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At the full inspection on 29 April 2025, the home was judged inadequate. Two compliance notices were served under regulation 12 (the protection of children standard) and regulation 13 (the leadership and management standard). At a monitoring visit on 19 June 2025, it was determined that the compliance notices were unmet. Following the visit, Ofsted suspended the home’s registration.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At a further monitoring visit on 30 July 2025, it was identified that the provider had made progress and was complying with the suspension notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to ensure compliance with the suspension notice, monitor the progress made by leaders and managers, and evaluate whether to lift the suspension notice. The provider continues to comply with the suspension notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is no manager or deputy manager in post. The provider has carefully considered potential applicants to ensure the recruitment of skilled and experienced individuals. At various points, individuals have been offered roles. However, due to the outcome of recruitment checks, the provider has withdrawn offers of employment. This demonstrates the provider’s commitment to ensuring that only suitable candidates are offered management positions. At the time of the visit, two Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2784900 2 individuals had been offered the roles of deputy manager and manager. Safer recruitment is ongoing, and offers of employment are conditional pending checks. This means that the current management arrangements to ensure the safe day-to- day running of the home are not adequate.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At the time of the visit, there was one senior staff member in post. Two further senior staff members have been recruited. They have not yet started in their roles, and safer recruitment is ongoing. Therefore, there are not yet enough members of staff to ensure that an experienced member of staff is always at the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
An interim responsible individual has been appointed. She is a knowledgeable, qualified social worker. She has worked diligently to improve the readiness of the service to provide care to children. She has successfully submitted her application to register with Ofsted. The previous responsible individual has been the subject of an internal investigation. This has been carried out by an external safeguarding practitioner. The current responsible individual has received the actions from the investigation and has started to address them. The full report will be sent to safeguarding partners.
p.2
This monitoring visit
A staff member is the subject of an ongoing investigation. The police are involved. All the other investigations are complete. These are supported by clear chronologies to demonstrate the actions that have been taken. This helps leaders and managers to have better oversight of learning and outcomes. The actions for individual staff have been transferred to individual risk assessments. These help the staff understand how they can adapt their practice to minimise the risk of allegations being made.
p.2
This monitoring visit
There are family members working at the home together. A new policy has been introduced to clarify the expectations of staff and managers. This ensures transparency for the staff team and children and minimises the possibility of a closed culture.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Mandatory training is provided online. In addition, the responsible individual has compiled a comprehensive training schedule. Monthly training focuses on a quality standard. Specific topics are covered in workshops, briefings, group work and traditional training methods. This training is face to face, providing the staff with opportunities to ask questions and participate in its delivery. This enables leaders and managers to determine how well staff understand and retain what they learn. The schedule is comprehensive and equips staff with a range of knowledge to help them improve their practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers understand the importance of training. When staff fail to meet the deadlines for mandatory online training, their contracts are terminated.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders have a better understanding of their roles. They have ensured that audit tools are in place to provide improved oversight of the home. These audits cover all aspects of the home and support its overall management. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2784900 3 Further work is required to meet all the requirements. This work is ongoing. The suspension of the home’s registration remains and will be reviewed regularly. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2784900 4
