p.1

The provision is good

The childminder has created a nurturing environment where curious and happy children thrive. Children who return to her after the summer holiday break quickly settle back into her care. The childminder builds strong bonds with children and their families. She knows this helps their learning and growth. Children are safe and secure. Toddlers eagerly invite the childminder to play. For example, they imagine making ice creams and cakes, and then they share them with her. Children are kind and take turns. When children struggle to share toys, the childminder helps them understand how their behaviour has an impact on others.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder has developed a good curriculum. She understands how children learn and develop. There is a big focus on outdoor learning. For example, the childminder takes children to local beaches, where they collect shells and learn about sea animals. When children return to the childminder's home, they use their creativity to paint the shells in bright colours. The childminder takes children to local woods and zoos. They learn about animals and nature. Children develop balance and coordination skills when they visit play parks. They develop their physical skills as they run, jump and climb.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder takes the children on outings to meet other childminders and children. When children start school, they usually go with this group of friends. This helps strengthen their positive relationships and improve their social skills.

The childminder helps children explore and understand mathematical concepts. These include counting, quantity, patterns, shapes and dimensions. Toddlers count to five and name shapes, such as 'square' and 'circle'. They delight in matching the quantity of small glass beads to numbers written on wooden blocks. Children show high levels of concentration as they play for a long time.
