p.1
The provision is good
The provider warmly welcomes children into a nurturing and homely setting, ensuring each child's unique needs are recognised and addressed from the outset. She actively tailors the curriculum to reflect individual learning styles, interests and developmental requirements. This helps every child feel valued, secure and motivated to engage with new experiences. From their very first day, she invests time in building meaningful relationships, gaining a thorough understanding of each child's background, preferences and abilities. This personalised approach enables her to plan relevant activities and provide targeted support, effectively building on children's existing skills and knowledge. She sets consistently high expectations for all children, encouraging them to challenge themselves and make the most of every opportunity.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are highly motivated and remain focused for extended periods during activities. For example, they explore the sandpit with curiosity, using magnifying glasses to examine insects and discussing what they observe, such as spotting a ladybird. Outdoors, children scoop sawdust and sand into bowls, which encourages investigation and problem-solving. Younger children sit on the grass and engage with green sand, relishing sensory play. Children use simple language as they bury their hands in the sand, while others practise fine motor skills by scooping sawdust with a wooden spoon and holding it with control. These experiences promote sustained engagement, language development and physical coordination.

need to do better?
n The provider creates a safe, welcoming environment and offers a broad selection of resources to support all areas of development. She plans purposeful activities that spark children's curiosity. For example, children weigh and count ingredients during baking, which promotes early numeracy, language skills and confident communication. n Children regularly explore their environment and eagerly meet and socialise with new people. Each week, they visit the local library to join in with singing and story times, and they play at the nearby parks. By joining toddler groups, they actively build relationships as they mix and play with other children. They safely explore and play in the garden, and they also visit museums. n Overall, children's behaviour is well supported. However, children do not consistently receive support to recognise and manage their emotions or develop effective strategies for regulating their behaviour.

For example, children wipe the tables after mealtimes and sweep the floor, taking pride in looking after their environment and learning important life skills through these daily routines. n The childminder carefully follows children's individual routines, ensuring they feel settled and secure.
