p.1

Information about this children’s home

The provider has recently appointed a new responsible individual, and we are currently checking that this person has the relevant capacity, experience and skills to carry out the role.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At the full inspection on 29 and 30 July 2025, the home was judged inadequate due to failings to ensure the safety and well-being of the child in the home. Compliance notices relating to regulation 12 (the protection of children standard) and regulation 13 (the leadership and management standard) were issued under section 22A of the Care Standards Act 2000.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The purpose of this visit was to review whether leaders and managers have met the steps in the compliance notices and assess whether further enforcement action is required. The manager was present during the visit and is overseeing the day-to-day running of the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, there have been no incidents of bullying. One child said, ‘I feel safe now.’ All staff have received additional training for preventing bullying. Staff now know how to recognise bullying and intervene to ensure that children are safe. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483856 2 The manager has ensured that room searches are carried out when necessary. Staff can identify when a room search would be necessary. Work has been carried out with children to support them in identifying potential fire risks. This ensures that the property is safe for children in line with their needs.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, there have been no occasions when staff have contacted the police for support with behaviour management. A child expressed that they may be able to have family members round for tea as things have improved. Staff have attended training on a range of topics, including the PACE model of care and physical intervention. A staff member said that the training has better equipped them to manage behaviour. Additional training supports staff development and their ability to respond appropriately when children are upset.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The manager has implemented clear monitoring and review systems. However, they are not yet fully embedded. There has been one incident when staff did not follow an implemented safety plan. The management oversight of this incident did not identify shortfalls in staff practice. This was a missed opportunity to reflect on the quality of care children are receiving and to address staff practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A case review was held on 19 September 2025, and it was agreed that, despite some remaining shortfalls, the steps of the compliance notice have been met. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483856 3
