This provision meets requirements

Children demonstrate that they feel happy and safe in their club. There are plentiful opportunities for children to take part in active play, socialise and relax after the school day. Children enjoy being active, which is promoted well by staff. For instance, children use the large outdoor space to run, play team games and practise their climbing skills on large play apparatus. Staff supervise children closely. They encourage and support children to take appropriate risks in their active play. This helps younger children become confident in their growing physical skills, including their coordination, control and social play. Children gain a sense of achievement as staff praise them, recognising and rewarding them in meaningful ways.

This provision meets requirements

Children behave well. Staff are kind, caring and respectful towards children. In turn, children learn the importance of these values in their play. For instance, older children actively look to support younger children as they play. They talk kindly to their younger peers, readily encouraging them to join in with play and show genuine kindness and caring to those who are new to the club. Children beam with pride as they talk to their parents about new friends they have made. This helps younger children to develop a sense of belonging and supports their emotional well-being.

need to do better?

n Leaders and staff have worked hard to address the weaknesses identified at the last inspection. Changes to the space available for children and the security of the premises ensure that children are kept safe and secure. For instance, visitors and children are not able to access gates to leave or enter the site without staff supervising these routines. Risk assessments and an embedded understanding of routines that promote children's safety are understood by leaders and staff alike. This ensures that children's safety and well-being are promoted. n Improvements to transition times by leaders and staff ensure that children are supervised effectively. Staff use end of school day transitions to ensure children are accompanied as they move to the club. The organisation of these times helps children, including the youngest, to feel settled and confident as they join the club. Children understand and follow the routines staff have put in place.

need to do better?

Staff greet children, welcome them to the club and help them to feel happy and safe. n Staff have reviewed and improved mealtimes to ensure that children's safety when eating is prioritised. For instance, staff teach children the importance of sitting to eat. Furthermore, they ensure children are within sight of staff to reduce any potential choking hazards. Children benefit from healthy foods and

29 September 2025 drinks to chose from, as staff promote healthy lifestyles. However, sometimes mealtimes are not used to fully develop independence. Often staff prepare and serve children foods, where opportunities for both older and younger children to learn to manage some of these routines in an age-appropriate way are overlooked. n Staff are kind and caring and demonstrate their commitment to providing good- quality care for children. Staff get to know children well, they recognise when younger and less-confident children need reassurance and readily offer this, to help support their emotional well-being. There is a happy and relaxed atmosphere in the club, children relish times to play with friends and staff. For instance, children practise different ways to style their friends' hair, as staff offer mirrors and a variety of hair bands to enable them to explore their creativity. n Parents report that they are happy with the care their children receive. They

know who their children's key person is, what support they offer and the activities the club provides. Strong communication between the school, club and parents helps ensure that young children's needs are understood and met. Where children need additional support, staff speak to parents to help them understand and meet their needs. This helps to promote an inclusive approach for all children. n Leaders have reviewed and improved the support for staff working at the setting. Staff say they enjoy their roles and feel that communication between leaders and themselves is good. Staff understand their roles and responsibilities and leaders ensure staff have the training, coaching and support they need to fulfil these.
