This provision meets requirements
Staff plan and provide a wide range of activities for children's enjoyment, which includes ideas and suggestions from the children. For example, younger children enjoy playing guessing games initiated by the staff. They take turns to give clues to their friends to help describe their chosen animal. Staff actively engage children in conversations. They ask questions, listen well and promote children's thinking and social skills. Staff help children to take turns and follow the rules of the game. Staff provide additional support to ensure all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), can participate and enjoy their time at the club.

need to do better?
n The leaders and staff utilise the space available well for the number of children who attend the club. Staff's strong organisational skills ensure children move around in their age groups and have access to all the activities on offer. Staff communicate well and deploy themselves around the club. This ensures children are supervised and stay safe. First aid is administered if any accidents occur and these are recorded and shared with parents. n Staff provide healthy snacks that children access on a rota basis. They follow good hygiene routines and wash their hands before eating. Children have water to drink. Staff sit with the children, engage in conversations and encourage children to try new foods. However, at times the noise levels are high and this impacts on the social element, especially for children who prefer a quieter environment. n The after-school club has a strong ethos on promoting children's physical play

Children share their ideas and feel listened to. They say that they feel safe and would share any concerns if they had any. n Parents appreciate the service the club provides and state their children have settled well and enjoy attending. Leaders respond quickly to any concerns or queries and provide feedback at the gate at collection times. However, parents state that they would like to receive more information about the menus and activities that take place and would like the opportunity to meet the staff who care for their children. n Leaders and staff promote a culture of diversity and inclusion and welcome all children to attend, including children with SEND. Leaders are currently working with the host school and the local authority to extend staff knowledge and

access funding to further support children with additional needs. This will ensure all children enjoy their time at the club and have their needs met effectively. n Leaders ensure all staff follow a robust recruitment procedure. This supports them to understand their roles and responsibilities. Together, they identify strengths and areas for improvement. Staff access training to increase their knowledge, which benefits the children and the experiences they receive at the club. Through discussions, leaders recognise the importance of strengthening partnership with parents and plan to address this issue.
