Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483846 1 SC483846 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is owned and operated by a private provider.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

It was registered to provide care for up to five children who may have social and emotional difficulties. Ofsted issued an urgent variation in conditions on 19 August 2025, and currently, the home is registered to care for up to four children under the same category of need.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There are four children currently being cared for in this home.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The manager began leading the team in June 2025 and is in the process of applying to register with Ofsted.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit was undertaken after information was received from a placing authority that suggested that there may be a breach of regulations.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There has been a reduction in the frequency and severity of incidents in the home since the full inspection. Staff have not called the police to assist them to manage children’s behaviour, and there are suitable processes and plans in place to ensure the safety of children. However, on one occasion, the safety plan in place was not followed, and this resulted in children from outside of the home being in children’s bedrooms unknown to staff. On another occasion, staff could not gain access to a child’s bedroom for a period as the keys were unavailable. Staff did not ensure children’s safety on these occasions.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The managers and leaders have prompt oversight of any concerns in the home and identify shortfalls in staff practice. Most shortfalls are addressed with staff promptly; Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483846 2 however, a deficit in reporting and recording was not identified or addressed. The managers and leaders are clear in their expectations of staff, but plans do not demonstrate how the managers intend to provide additional support, supervision and monitoring as a result of practice shortfalls.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Improvements to the children’s bedrooms have been made. Staff support children to keep their personal space clean, tidy and appropriate to their needs. The managers and leaders have implemented a process to ensure that the children’s bedrooms remain well cared for and have strengthened this process following an occasion when standards were not maintained at a weekend.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The home has been repainted, and appropriate window coverings have been fitted. The bedrooms and communal areas still require personalisation, and some carpets and furniture require replacing. Further improvements have been arranged but not yet completed.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The manager and deputy manager remain relatively new to the setting. Since the last inspection, they have begun training to assist them in their roles and the support of staff.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A new responsible individual has been appointed to the home. Their suitability for the role has not yet been assessed by Ofsted. The former responsible individual and the current one are working closely together over the period of transition to maintain oversight and consistency for the home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The provider has recognised the unique nature of the setting given the proximity to a sister home and the impact each has on the other. The provider has appointed a person to assist the responsible individual and managers to coordinate care and planning over the two homes.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The requirements and compliance notices made at the last inspection were not reviewed in their entirety by the inspector at this visit. The managers and leaders have made progress in relation to them, but this remains ongoing. Therefore, all previous requirements and compliance notices remain in place.
