The provision is good
The experienced childminder provides an inviting, warm and homely learning environment for children to learn and thrive. The childminder is aware of children's different learning styles and supports these effectively. For example, young children who enjoy throwing are provided with appropriate resources, such as bean bags and soft balls. She is skilful in how she guides them to practise this skill safely. Children delight in the praise they receive when they hit the target or successfully throw balls into a box provided. The ambitious curriculum is planned around children's interests and builds on what they already know. Therefore, children are engaged, are curious and enjoy their learning.
p.2
The provision is good
Children are the focus of all decisions made by the dedicated childminder. She recognises that children need to make choices and decisions for themselves, for example where they would like to play. In addition, she recognises that children also need familiar routines. This helps children to feel safe and secure. The childminder is very good at tailoring settling-in sessions to ensure children settle well and leave their parents with ease. Even the youngest children develop high levels of confidence and self-esteem. The nurturing childminder has high expectations of children's behaviour. She offers lots of praise and encouragement. This also helps children develop feelings of security and confidence. Children behave very well.

For example, they regularly participate in trips to a local residential home. They decorate cakes, arrange flowers and sing with the residents. They visit museums, theatre and the zoo, which broadens their experiences and understanding of the world. n The childminder promotes children's early communication and language skills well. She joins in with children's play and talks with them, introducing new words. She is skilful in how she allows children time to process questions and
