The provision is good

Children's laughter fills the air in this friendly, welcoming setting. The children are very happy and comfortable with the nurturing and caring childminder. Children play happily together and form strong relationships with their friends. For example, they take turns when sticking sequins on the crowns they have made. The childminder creates a relaxed environment and provides a broad curriculum that supports all children to flourish and develop well. Children have high levels of self- esteem and are extremely confident. The childminder gives high priority to children's personal, social and emotional well-being. n The childminder skilfully encourages children to develop their mathematical understanding. Children make simple calculations, such as working out the total when 'one more' is added when adding candles in the play dough to the cakes they have made. This develops number skills and supports children to develop understanding of mathematical concepts. n The daily routines are well organised and promote children's physical health and well-being effectively. For example, children have daily opportunities to play in the outdoor area. They visit the local parks and play centre, which enables children to access more physically challenging equipment to help develop their big muscles. This builds up children's confidence, balance and coordination, supporting their physical development and fitness. n The childminder supports children to develop healthy lifestyles. She works with parents to offer advice and guidance to ensure healthy eating. She provides

healthy nutritious meals and snacks and explains to the children how food is nutritious for our bodies and helps us grow. This contributes to children's health and well-being. n The childminder does not always use what she knows about children to plan precisely for their individual learning needs, which means her teaching is not always as sharply focused as it could be. Even so, children enjoy the learning provided and have access to a wide range of interesting opportunities that help

Children enjoy an interactive and engaging song time and participate with enthusiasm. They sing along to 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm'. The children talk about the animals they see and repeat the familiar animal sounds. This develops children's listening and comprehension skills and helps them to become confident communicators. n The childminder has good partnerships with parents. Parents speak highly of her and say she is 'brilliant'. She has regular discussions with the parents to update them on their children's progress. The childminder and parents also work together to support children through big milestones, such as toilet training. This ensures that there is a consistent approach to children's learning. n The childminder has a positive approach to her own professional development.
