Staff attend safeguarding training and, through discussion, describe how they are aware of the procedures they must follow in the event of concerns. Staff discuss the expectation that children will only eat when sitting at the table with an adult. This follows safe eating practices. n Staff demonstrate a clear ethos for the provision, with a strong emphasis on building independence. They explain how there is an area for children to hang their own coats and bags up when they arrive, and children will be encouraged to serve themselves at snack time. n The building and resources are safe and inviting. Staff speak about how children will be able to freely choose what they want to play with. Staff will set up the role-play area into different themes that follow children's interests, such as doctors and vets. Puzzles, craft and other activities will be available for the

children. n Staff understand the importance of outside play to support children's physical development. Staff share that children will be able to use the playground regularly for a variety of games. n Staff explain how they will support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and how they will work together with other professionals to ensure a child-centred approach. Staff give examples of how they would support children who speak English as an additional language. Storage boxes for resources within the room have pictures on them, which will help children select what they want to play with if they cannot verbally communicate their choice. n Staff have high expectations for children to behave well. They explain how they will talk to children about being respectful and kind towards each other. Staff comment that they feel well supported and respected by other team members. This will create positive role modelling for children to watch and learn from.

This provision meets requirements

n Staff understand the importance of parent partnership and the benefit of working closely with the school. Staff explain how they will create a two-way flow of information between themselves, the teachers and parents. Information will be shared at the end of the day about what the children have been doing and how much they have eaten.

p.2

This provision meets requirements

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
