Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
A private company owns this home, which provides care for two children who may have social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
At the time of this monitoring visit, one child was living in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged to have serious and widespread concerns at the assurance inspection on 29 July 2025. The inspector identified serious concerns about safeguarding practices in the home and ineffective leadership and management arrangements.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following the inspection, three compliance notices were issued under Section 22A of the Care Standards Act. Compliance notices were issued under Regulation 12, the protection of children standard, Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard and Regulation 6, the quality and purpose of care standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to monitor the action taken by the provider in meeting the compliance notices. The provider has not taken sufficient action to meet the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the previous inspection, one child has moved on from the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have taken action to improve the home environment. Previous damage has been repaired, and children’s bedrooms are clean and safe from hazards. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2808376 2 Staff’s actions when children are missing from care have improved. They are professionally curious and actively look for children to ensure that they are returned to the home as quickly as possible. However, oversight of incidents by leaders and managers does not identify shortfalls in staff’s recording of such incidents.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have attended further training in relation to safeguarding and children going missing from care. There are further training courses and workshops planned; however, these had not been completed at the time of the monitoring visit. Leaders and managers have not carried out any sessions that reflect on practice following significant safeguarding incidents. This limits staff’s opportunity to improve safeguarding practices.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff are not able to meet the needs of the child currently living in the home. Strategies in place to manage and reduce risks for the child are not effective. Leaders and managers have not reviewed the strategies in place to evaluate their effectiveness. As a result, incidents have continued and behaviours for the child have escalated in frequency and severity.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, the registered manager has applied to cancel their registration with Ofsted. The proposed manager has not submitted their application to register.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have introduced systems to improve their oversight and monitoring of children’s care in the home. However, despite the introduction of new processes, this is not embedded or effective in practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements previously raised under Regulations 11 and 5 were not reviewed during this visit. For this reason, they are restated. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2808376 3
