Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2835212 1 Registered provider: Sanitas Cura Ltd

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This privately run children’s home provides care for one child who may have social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

At the time of the inspection, one child was living in the home.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home and the manager were registered with Ofsted in June 2025.

p.1

This monitoring visit

An assurance inspection was carried out on 22 August 2025 that identified serious and widespread concerns. This visit was undertaken to monitor the actions taken by the provider to address the concerns identified at the assurance inspection.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Inspectors identified serious shortfalls in safeguarding practices during this monitoring visit. A safety plan was formulated following the assurance inspection, which included measures to ensure that the child was supervised at all times and the use of waking night staff. However, this plan has not been effective in preventing further incidents.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have failed to evidence that increased safeguarding measures have been implemented effectively to ensure the child’s safety. As a result of this failure, two further serious incidents occurred, leading to the child requiring hospital treatment. These incidents were preventable and highlight the inadequacy of current safeguarding arrangements.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There is evidence that safety plans are not being consistently followed. This raises concerns about staff compliance and accountability in implementing agreed strategies to reduce risk. Furthermore, essential staff training, particularly in Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2835212 2 managing ligature risks, has not been completed. This significantly limits staff’s ability to respond appropriately to known and foreseeable risks.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Records reviewed during the visit, including staff handovers, lacked clear and specific guidance on managing behaviours or directing staff actions. This absence of detailed instructions contributes to inconsistent care practices and further undermines safeguarding efforts.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The staff rota did not accurately reflect which staff had worked and when. Some staff covering shifts work for the provider, but this is not their normal workplace. It was unclear whether these staff had a full understanding of the child’s risks, as they appeared unfamiliar with the setting and specific safeguarding concerns. This lack of continuity and understanding has a detrimental impact on the child’s safety and well- being.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The lack of proactive and effective measures to reduce known risks demonstrates a significant failure in leadership and management. Leaders have not ensured that appropriate risk management procedures are in place or are consistently followed. This failure places children at continued risk and undermines efforts to safeguard their welfare effectively.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Inspectors did not consider the requirements set at the assurance inspection at this monitoring visit; they will be reviewed at the next inspection.
