Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2815289 1

p.1

Information about this children's home

The home is registered to provide care for up to three children who may experience social and emotional difficulties. There were three children living at the home at the time of this inspection. The home is run by a private organisation.

p.1

Information about this children's home

The home was registered in March 2025. A manager has been in post since August 2025 and is not yet registered.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At the previous full inspection on 15 July 2025, this children’s home was assessed as requiring improvement to be good. This visit was undertaken to address specific concerns relating to the quality of care provided to children and the way the home is managed. The requirements made at the previous inspection were not reviewed during this visit and have subsequently been restated. Two additional requirements were made at this visit.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, the registered manager has left their post. A successor has been appointed but has not yet started working at the home. Interim arrangements have been made to ensure that staff have suitable leadership and support whilst they await the arrival of the new manager. During this period of change, leaders have taken steps to protect children from unnecessary disruption. The introduction of structured daily plans has helped to create a sense of stability and continuity for children.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Records do not provide a sufficiently detailed or accurate description of the actions taken by staff during physical interventions. There is also no opportunity for staff to reflect on the impact of any incident or identify what they could have done differently. This inhibits leaders from holistically evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and identifying any learning. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2815289 2 The home environment is not always maintained in a way that promotes a sense of well-being and homeliness for children. Broken items in the communal areas have not been replaced and one child’s bed remained in disrepair for a week, meaning that the child was required to sleep on a sofa.

p.1

This monitoring visit

With support from staff, one child has developed a better understanding of the risks associated with being missing and has since been absent from the home less frequently. The number of available staff has been increased, which has improved staff capacity to respond when a child leaves the home unexpectedly.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Social workers comment positively about the progress children make from their starting points. Staff support children with their learning and have helped them prepare to return to education in the new term. Children have some positive experiences and take part in a range of activities both locally and further afield.
