p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager registered with Ofsted in March 2024.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 15 and 16 July 2025. Shortfalls were identified in the arrangements to safeguard children and the effectiveness of the management arrangements of the home. Two compliance notices were issued under section 22A of the Care Standards Act 2000. The compliance notices were in relation to regulation 12 (the protection of children standard) and regulation 13 (the leadership and management standard).
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to review whether leaders and managers have taken sufficient action to meet the steps required in the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Children receive care from a consistent staff team. Staff know the children well. Children have positive and trusting relationships with the staff who care for them.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager is responsive to emerging risks to children. She is in regular communication with the team of professionals around the child. This promotes a shared understanding of risk and supports a multi-agency approach to safeguarding children. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC423460 2 The manager ensures that there are clear risk management plans in place for each child. These plans help staff manage and minimise known risks for children. Staff follow children’s risk management plans and record the actions they take to safeguard them.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There are clear protocols in place for staff to follow if a child goes missing from the home. The manager has included details of locations that staff should search and people to contact to help locate the child. There has been one occasion when staff were concerned that a child was missing. They initiated the missing-from-home procedure immediately and acted in line with the child’s plan. The child was quickly located, and it was established that the child’s mobile phone was not working.
p.2
This monitoring visit
On one occasion, it was necessary for staff to hold a child to ensure their safety. Afterwards, the manager ensured that the child was provided the opportunity to talk about how this made them feel. The manager has taken action to ensure that all staff have the training required to hold children safely.
p.2
This monitoring visit
One child moved into the home with minimal notice. This limited the manager’s ability to assess whether it was appropriate for the child to live with the other children already in the home. A requirement is made that the manager reviews the home’s admissions processes. This is to ensure that any risks children may pose to each other are considered before a child moves into the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Management oversight of significant incidents in the home has improved. The manager reviews the records that staff make to ensure that they are following agreed protocols and taking effective action to safeguard children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following a case review on 10 September 2025, it was determined that the steps outlined in the compliance notices issued under regulations 12 and 13 have been met.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Requirements made under regulations 5, 33 and 45 were not considered as part of this visit. They will be considered at the home’s next full inspection. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC423460 3
