p.1

The provision is good

The childminder provides a warm and nurturing home-from-home environment. She builds positive relationships with parents from the outset and takes time to get to know each child. The childminder organises the environment well and children are keen to explore the activities she provides. They show high levels of engagement as they confidently make choices in their play. For example, children eagerly gather trains and excitedly work together to construct a track. They demonstrate good problem-solving skills for their young age and are confident to seek support, if needed.

The provision is good

The childminder's curriculum places a strong focus on outdoor learning. She frequently takes children to her allotment, where they enjoy planting, harvesting, and growing fruit and vegetables. This supports their developing understanding of life cycles. The childminder uses the produce children have grown, such as in cooking activities, or as part of their snack. She uses these experiences to help strengthen their awareness of where food comes from and to support their understanding of making healthy choices.

p.2

The provision is good

The childminder is a good role model. She gives children gentle reminders to share and take turns, and provides cuddles and reassurance when needed. This helps children to feel safe and secure. Children know their routines well and happily put away their toys as they listen to a familiar tidy up song. All children are developing the skills they need ready for the next stage in their education.

At times, she does not make good use of questions to help further extend children's thinking and language skills. n The childminder supports children's early mathematical development well. assessments, covering the inside of her home, the garden and outings, to help reduce the risk of any hazards. n Relationships with parents are strong. The childminder communicates with them in diverse ways to suit the needs of each individual family. Parents comment the childminder is warm and friendly and keeps them regularly updated on their children's achievements and progress. They say she gives them support and guidance, such as on potty training, which helps them to support their children at home. n The childminder is committed to maintaining and improving her skills and knowledge. She attends regular training and is a member of a childminders network in the local community. This helps her keep up to date with changes to the latest guidance and legislation. Recent training on enhancing children's core strength has had a positive impact on how she supports the physical development of children in her care.
