n The childminder understands how young children learn in different ways. She can describe how she supports children to make progress by working with them to succeed in making small steps towards a bigger target. For example, she described how she used a range of different methods to capture the interest of a child who was not showing any interest in making marks or using tools, such as paintbrushes. One of the favourite activities that emerged from this is drawing around each other and filling in the facial features and clothes. The childminder described using this activity to discuss size and make comparisons. n The childminder has experience of working with child protection agencies. She can described the signs and symptoms of abuse and knows the local area well. For example, she is aware of how county lines gangs operate and the signs she may see if a child's family member were to become involved in such activity. The

childminder knows who to report concerns about a child to. n The childminder's ambition for children is for them to be prepared for the transition to school. She can explain what this means to her. For example, she aims for children to be able to use the toilet independently, dress themselves, be confident to make their needs known and be able to understand how to share and take turns. She can describe how she works towards this with children at their level of understanding, for example, by using games to learn about taking turns. n The childminder is aware that young children can struggle to understand and manage their emotions. She can explain how she supports children to develop their awareness, such as giving children comfort and using resources, such as emotion balls and books to help them. n The childminder can explain how she supports children to develop their communication and language. She describes how she talks to children about

what they are doing, reads books and sings rhymes and songs with them. Children also have access to a range of books linked to their current topic, such as 'All About Me', that they can read independently in the comfortable reading tent the childminder has set up. n The childminder has a wealth of resources available for children to choose from when they attend her setting. The childminder makes sure that the resources she has on offer are the ones that cater for children's current interests and meet their developmental needs. She also takes children to a range of places in the community, for example she uses the local parks to provide additional resources, such as swings and climbing frames, to support the development of children's large muscles and coordination. n The childminder is aware of the hazards that children may encounter in her home and on outings. She has a range of well-thought-through risk assessments

20 August 2025 There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
