Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1

Information about this children’s home
The home registered with Ofsted in February 2013. The manager registered with Ofsted in April 2022.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
At the time of the inspection, no children were living at the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was carried out to monitor the provider’s progress since the last inspection and the actions taken to meet the compliance notices issued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, one child has moved on from the home. The child has had a successful return home. The child’s parents said, ‘Staff went above and beyond to ensure that the plan worked.’ The child had a positive move from the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has carried out a review of the responsible individual’s role and their capacity to maintain effective oversight of the home. Following this review, a new responsible individual has been appointed to assume oversight responsibilities. As the registered manager is currently absent from the home, the provider has designated an interim manager to ensure continuity of leadership and management.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Following a comprehensive review, the leadership team identified weaknesses in care practices that contributed to the home’s inadequate judgement. In response, the provider has revised its safeguarding policy to clarify reporting routes and responsibilities, delivered targeted refresher training to ensure that staff understand how to recognise and manage safeguarding incidents and strengthened supervisory oversight to monitor adherence to procedures. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC456857 2 Despite these measures, there was one instance in which staff did not follow the safeguarding procedure and did not contact the on-call manager for advice after an incident. The interim manager immediately identified this lapse, reiterated staff responsibilities and procedures and has scheduled additional supervision to secure consistent practice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Some of the staff are new to the home. They have had a detailed induction to support them in their roles. Reflective sessions have taken place with staff in team meetings. These now include a focus and time for reflection on safeguarding. Staff can discuss any new or existing areas of concern. Staff supervision has been held in line with the home’s statement of purpose. Supervision also considers safeguarding and whistle-blowing as part of the agenda. Staff receive regular supervision.
p.2
This monitoring visit
All staff have completed training specifically tailored to meet the needs of the children living at the home. This includes areas such as safeguarding, sexually harmful behaviour, child sexual exploitation and other relevant topics, including risk assessment and effective communication. Following each training course, staff participate in focused, one-to-one supervision sessions that explore individual learning outcomes. This targeted approach allows the manager to assess how newly acquired knowledge is being implemented in practice, identify any additional development needs and reinforce staff accountability in upholding high standards of care. Through these measures, leaders ensure that training is not only delivered but meaningfully embedded into daily practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have ensured that children’s current and emerging risks are known. Risk assessments consider the actions required to reduce risks, and managers have reviewed them regularly to ensure that they reflect the needs of the children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has taken sufficient action to manage and reduce the risk of harm to children. The concerns that led to the compliance notices being issued are no longer evident.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements raised at the full inspection remain in place as the provider will now need to implement the learning and improvements made since June 2025. One additional requirement has been made in relation to the manager ensuring that staff consistently follow the safeguarding policy.
