p.1

The provision is good

Staff welcome children as they arrive with genuine warmth. Children separate from their parents happily. They are eager to come to nursery and quickly settle into the daily routine. Through consistently caring and positive interactions, staff support children's emotional well-being and sense of security effectively.

p.2

The provision is good

Staff know children well and understand their individual needs and stages of development. They offer a wide range of engaging resources and activities, providing support and encouragement to help children thrive. For instance, staff skilfully support older children to explore different ways of moving and to challenge themselves using the climbing frame and net. Younger children are carefully supported to balance on beams, with staff sensitively adjusting the level of challenge and offering reassurance. This encourages children to take appropriate risks in their play, promotes confidence and supports their physical development.

p.2

The provision is good

Staff set clear, age-appropriate expectations and boundaries, which are applied gently and consistently. This helps children to understand routines, make positive choices and feel secure. Expectations around kindness are embedded in daily practice. As a result, children behave well and show respect for others.

p.2

need to do better?

n Staff use a range of effective strategies to support all children in developing strong communication skills and a broad vocabulary. Songs support daily routines, and staff share books with children, encouraging discussions based on what they have read. New words, such as 'octopus' and 'seahorse', are introduced naturally to help extend children's language. However, on occasion, staff share inaccurate information, such as mixing up facts about animals and their habitats during a story, which can cause confusion and hinder children's progress. n Staff support children who speak English as an additional language well. Staff learn key words in children's home languages. They also use pictures and objects of reference to support all children's early language skills. These consistent approaches help all children to become confident and capable communicators. n Staff provide children with a variety of meaningful experiences that develop their

understanding of the local community and wider world. Children enjoy regular walks in the local area and take part in cultural celebrations, such as Diwali and Remembrance Day. These outings and activities, including stories and creative experiences linked to festivals, broaden children's knowledge and support learning across all areas of the curriculum. n Leaders are committed to continuous improvement. Staff benefit from regular

5 August 2025 training, support and opportunities to develop their professional knowledge and skills. They value strong partnerships with parents and work closely with them to support each child's development. In turn, parents appreciate the caring, attentive staff and feel confident that their children are safe, happy and well supported. n Staff place a strong focus on hygiene, healthy eating and encouraging children's independence in self-care, such as toileting and feeding. They ensure children have access to fresh drinking water throughout the day and sit with them at mealtimes to discuss healthy food choices. Staff promote responsibility by assigning small tasks, such as handing out plates. Sleeping routines are personalised in a calm, darkened area with gentle music. Staff maintain close supervision to ensure children's safety and well-being. n The ambitious curriculum supports progress in all areas of learning, and positive

staff interactions aid children's development. However, occasionally, staff intervene too quickly without encouraging children's independent thinking and allowing them to explore their own ideas. n Staff help children to recognise and express their emotions in age-appropriate ways, supporting them to manage their behaviour positively. They model kindness and respect, naming and validating feelings to reinforce expectations. When issues arise, staff remind children about including others, and children respond well. Through consistent praise and support, children develop strong social skills and show care for others. n Staff work closely with parents and professionals to provide tailored support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They form strong partnerships that enable them to identify each child's needs accurately and plan appropriate strategies. Staff adapt activities and provide targeted
