Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2784900 1 Registered provider: ANKH-A Ltd

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This privately run home provides care for up to three children.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There were no children living in the home at the time of the monitoring visit.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There has been no registered manager since 2 May 2025.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At the full inspection on 29 April 2025, the home was judged inadequate. Following this, compliance notices under regulation 12, the protection of children standard and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard, were served. A monitoring visit took place on 19 June 2025 to explore whether managers had met the steps set in the compliance notices. The compliance notices were not met. As a result, Ofsted issued the provider with a notice suspending the registration of the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The purpose of this monitoring visit was to monitor compliance with the suspension notice. The actions taken by the provider in response to the requirements raised at the last monitoring visit were also reviewed.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider has continued to comply with the suspension notice. Children have not lived at the home since the notice was served. The home has not cared for children since the full inspection in April 2025.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There is currently no manager or deputy manager. The management arrangements in place to ensure the safe running of the home are not effective. The provider has contacted the previous registered manager to request that he cancel his registration as required by Ofsted. He has not done this. The previous responsible individual is currently the subject of an internal investigation. The interim responsible individual has submitted her application to register with Ofsted; however, Ofsted has not Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2784900 2 received the application form. She is committed to addressing the shortfalls at the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Investigations into staff remain ongoing. Several staff have been suspended due to the allegations made against them. The majority of investigations into these allegations have taken place. These are not all clearly written up and none of them have been sent to safeguarding partners for oversight. This means that investigations remain incomplete; there has been no learning or recommendations following these. One investigation is ongoing and involves the police.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have started to compile a chronology to demonstrate the information that has been sent to safeguarding partners and when the events took place. These chronologies are not up to date and some specific details are missing. There are emails between the police and the responsible individual requesting that statements be re-sent. As the chronologies lack detail, it is difficult to see when the statements were originally sent and the allegation they are in reference to. The information in respect of each allegation is unclear and disorganised. This fails to provide effective safeguards.

p.2

This monitoring visit

There are two staff who are related to the director working at the home. This has not been formally risk assessed. There has been no consideration given to how this may affect whistle-blowing or who would carry out investigations regarding these staff.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The initial investigation into allegations has identified poor practice from other staff. The new responsible individual has requested a consultation with the local authority designated officer to discuss if further action is needed.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The staff have received training regarding risk assessments. This has highlighted the importance of clear and detailed assessments to inform staff how to work with children to reduce risk, and how to respond to children when they are in crisis. One staff member was able to articulate this. Following the training, staff compiled a risk assessment. This was not fully effective to guide staff in support of children when they are experiencing crisis. Other training has taken place, such as trauma-informed care. Some staff have not taken part in this training yet, meaning that the team is unable to meet the needs of children.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The interim responsible individual has completed retrospective audits of children’s documents. She has used this process to identify missing documents. This has helped her to understand the importance of continual oversight.

p.2

This monitoring visit

All staff, including newer staff, have completed the organisational induction. This means that all staff have now been given a basic introduction to their roles. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2784900 3 Some elements of the requirements have been met. However, work to fully meet the requirements is ongoing. The suspension of the registration remains in place and will be reviewed regularly. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2784900 4
