p.1
The provision is good
Children are confident, happy and settled in the care of this experienced childminder. Children share a special bond with the childminder, who knows them very well and anticipates their needs. The childminder provides children with consistent daily routines to help them feel secure. She is responsive to the children and individual care routines are sensitively followed. When children become tired or upset, they are soothed with a reassuring cuddle.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder delivers a broad curriculum that is influenced by children's interests and abilities. This includes daily opportunities to be outside in the garden. Children plant, grow and harvest potatoes and tomatoes in the garden. In addition, the childminder takes children on trips out into the community. This includes nature walks, meeting up with other childminders and attending music sessions and forest school activities. These experiences further enhance the children's knowledge of the wider world and help them to build their confidence in different social settings.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder demonstrates a fun and caring attitude with the children as she reminds them of expectations around behaviour. She talks to them about the need to share and to help tidy away an activity before moving on to the next one. Children learn how to behave because the childminder is a good role model. She recognises children's achievements and praises the children, offering a 'high five'. The childminder further supports children to recognise their emotions and speak about how they are feeling.

need to do better?
n The childminder works at home, alongside one other registered childminder. She works very closely with her co-minder, while ensuring that her own key children are well supported. At all times, children are closely supervised. n The childminder has completed all mandatory training, including paediatric first aid and safeguarding training. In addition, she has engaged in some further professional development opportunities to build on her knowledge and skills and to stay up to date on changes in legislation. n The childminder chats easily with the children. She uses recall effectively to help children remember previous experiences. The childminder provides commentary as they play. She makes use of spontaneous learning opportunities, asking questions to help the children to think critically. The childminder listens to the children, repeats what children say with clarity and gives them time to respond.

need to do better?
She explores the meaning of new words, such as 'koala' and 'tongue' and introduces the concepts of 'fast', 'faster' and 'fastest'. n Children love listening to stories throughout the day. They know how to handle books and turn the pages. The childminder extends children's learning as she

need to do better?
31 July 2025 helps them to look at the pictures and anticipate what happens next in the story. Children concentrate well as they develop early reading skills. Children practise pre-writing skills as they make chalk marks. They learn how to wipe the board clean, ready to use again. The childminder reminds children to be aware of risks as they ride on push-along cars and push their baby dolls in buggies. n Mealtimes are social occasions, where children gather around the dining table. The childminder talks to the children about foods that are healthy, such as watermelon and pineapple. Children enjoy nutritious, well-presented snacks that are prepared by the childminder. Children's individual needs are considered, particularly with nappy changing and sleeping. Children have lots of support to practise using the toilet and washing their hands, while singing a familiar 'handwashing song'. n Partnerships with parents are strong. The childminder offers practical parenting

advice and support. Parents receive regular feedback their children's learning and progress. Many parents have provided written testimonials. All speak highly of the childminder who they describe as 'extremely supportive', 'kind' and 'capable'. n Overall, the childminder demonstrates effective teaching techniques as she gets down to the children's level. She uses recall effectively to embed previous learning with the children, as they explore number, shape, and colour. However, adult-led activities are not consistently well planned or delivered to meet the needs of all of the children. While the older children listen to instruction and learn to take their turns as they play board games, the younger children quickly lose interest and wander off.
