Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2638535 1 Registered provider: Hopscotch Care Limited

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home is owned and managed by a private provider. It offers care for up to two children who experience social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The previous manager left the home in January 2025. The current manager is due to leave the organisation soon and has not applied to register with Ofsted.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

At the time of the inspection, no children were living at the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 11 June 2025. Due to the serious and widespread safeguarding failures and poor leadership and management of the home, Ofsted issued a restriction of accommodation notice and two compliance notices under regulations 12, the protection of children standard and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The restriction of accommodation notice had immediate effect from 12 June 2025 to 2 September 2025.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit was carried out to monitor the provider’s compliance with the restriction of accommodation notice and the action taken to address the compliance notices.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider has complied with the restriction of accommodation notice.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The responsible individual and acting manager have started reviewing processes and procedures. This review is in its early stages and requires further development to ensure that new processes are effective. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2638535 2 Since the last inspection, there was an alleged incident of poor staff practice. The responsible individual and acting manager have not taken sufficient action to address the concern and follow safeguarding processes. This potentially leaves children at risk of harm.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, a further three staff have left the home. The acting manager was also leaving the week after this visit. This leaves the complement of staff very low. Two staff spoken to said staff morale is low. They were worried that sufficient changes that are needed will not take place. The responsible individual said they are in the process of recruiting new staff. He envisaged that the home will be fully staffed by September 2025.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have received training in safeguarding practices and in areas to meet specific needs of children. This helps staff to develop their knowledge and skills to support children and keep them safe.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The acting manager has started to review the competency and learning of staff from their recent training. However, this requires more time and scrutiny for the manager to gain a full understanding about staff knowledge and skills to identify any further support.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Since the full inspection, one child living in the home has moved to a new home. Clear plans were implemented in collaboration with the placing local authority, ensuring that the child’s move was managed safely and in line with their individual needs. This ensured that the child had a positive ending to their time living in the home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Other requirements made at the last inspection are outside the scope of this visit. However, one requirement under regulation 21 was met. The other requirements will be reviewed at the next inspection.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The provider has not taken sufficient action to meet the steps outlined in the compliance notices. Compliance notices have been issued under regulation 12, the protection of children standard and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
